After leaving the media, Duncan put himself on a steep learning curve, to broaden his media relations expertise to include other aspects of public relations including strategic and crisis communications. He has taken advanced crisis communications training through the Institute for Crisis Management in Kentucky, and his company, Bissett Matheson Communications is the only firm in eastern Canada licensed to offer the Institurte of Crisis Management's programs. On the volunteer side, Duncan is on the Board of Directors of the Capital Credit Union and the Fredericton Homeless Shelters. He's also a member of the Canadian Sport Parachute Association. | |
| Thomas Mengel, Ph.D. Associate Professor of Leadership Education, Renaissance College, UNB Fredericton, New Brunswick Phone: (506) 327-6530 E-mail: tmengel@unb.ca FACILITATOR: LEADING AND MOTIVATING OTHERS Before joining academia full-time, Thomas had served in various management and leadership positions in different European business organizations. Subsequently, he has worked as a project management and leadership consultant and coach in Canadian and European settings with global technology and service organizations to help develop senior project managers and leaders. In his current research, he is exploring frameworks and approaches for leadership and project management education and their impact on both the participating individuals as well as on the communities in which the participants are a part. His scholarly focus at Renaissance College is leadership education for youth and emerging leaders. Thomas Mengel joined the Leadership Fredericton team in 2005. Dr. Mengel’s focus on this learning day is on the exploration of finding meaning in one’s role as a leader and follower. | |
